Over the years, Godfrey Phillips India has maintained its commitment to minimise the impact of our business on the environment.
As a conscientious corporate citizen, we realise our responsibility towards the conservation of the environment and have adopted policies to use methods that have been proven to be safe for the environment.
We enable our farmers with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) by conducting training and imparting technical know-how. Our efforts in this regard have been recognised every year with felicitations from the Tobacco Institute of India for our farmers’ breakthroughs.
In terms of environment-friendly manufacturing, our facilities comply with some of the highest international quality standards like ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 18001: 2007. The ISO 50001: 2011 (for Energy Management Systems) and ISO 14001:2004 (for Environment Management Systems) certification of our plants is further proof of Godfrey Phillips India’s commitment towards the environment.
Both our factories have also taken up initiatives like recycling of water, rainwater harvesting and solar-power, among others.
They have developed steam-heated hot water generator systems to replace the electrical systems, and have various automation and interlocking systems to save power.
Our new factory in Rabale, near Mumbai is an IGBC-registered Green Factory Building. And the Guldhar factory was awarded the ‘Greentech Foundation Platinum Award’ in 2015, after winning Gold Awards every year from 2010 to 2013 for Outstanding Achievement in Environment Management.
These are among the most coveted awards in the corporate world for outstanding achievements in the field of Environment Management. The Guldhar factory had also received the Eco Friendly Award 2009 from Ghaziabad Management Association for implementing the ‘Best Environment Management Practices’.
